Scheduling for Media Function Virtualization

چکیده

Broadcasters are building studio architectures based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) IT hardware because of advantages such as cost reduction, ease management, and upgradation. Media function virtualization (MFV) leverages IP networking to transport media streams between virtual functions (VMFs), where they processed. service deployment in an MFV environment entails solving the VMF-FG scheduling problem ensure that required broadcast quality guarantees fulfilled. In this paper, we formulate propose a greedy-based algorithm solve it. The evaluation is carried terms end-to-end delay VMF queuing delay. Moreover, importance decomposition upgradation higher-quality formats also highlighted.

Placement and Scheduling of Functions in Network Function Virtualization

The virtualization of Radio Access Networks (RANs) has been proposed as one of the important use cases of Network Function Virtualization (NFV). In VRAN!s (VRAN!s), some functions from a Base Station (BS), such as those which make up the Base Band Unit (BBU), may be implemented in a shared infrastructure located at either a data center or distributed in network nodes. For the latter option, one...

A Framework for Network Function Virtualization

The proliferation of network processing appliances (“Middleboxes”) has been accompanied by a growing recognition of the problems they bring, including expensive hardware and complex management. This recognition led the networking industry to launch a concerted effort towards Network Function Virtualization (NFV) with the goal of bringing greater openness and agility to network dataplanes. Howev...

Low-Complexity Multi-Resource Packet Scheduling for Network Functions Virtualization

Network functions are widely deployed in modern networks, providing various network services ranging from intrusion detection to HTTP caching. Various virtual network function instances can be consolidated into one physical middlebox. Depending on the type of services, packet processing for different flows consumes different hardware resources in the middlebox. Previous solutions of multi-resou...

Disk Scheduling Proposal for an In-Band Bandwidth Virtualization Schema

This paper proposes a new disk scheduling algorithm for a storage virtualization schema, decoupling virtual disks and physical disks. It allows the system to virtualize not only the storage capacity, but also the storage bandwidth, following QoS directives. That virtualization can be applied to the applications bandwidth and access time requirements, allowing that each virtual disk could be use...

Network Function Virtualization: A Primer

Network function virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) are widely acknowledged as potential disruptive technologies of next generation computer networks. The network operators are pushing the frontiers of NFV to reduce operational expenditure (OPEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX). Network vendors and academic researchers look upon NFV as an opportunity to speed up innovati...
